Thanks Lynda. I will never get the hang of these machines. This is Tessa who came into Rescue at the age of eleven after her owner had died and the family did not want her. She was in a bit of a sorry state and had raging cystitis. So I bet she had been having a few piddles on the carpet and that could have been a reason. They said she didn't like to go for walks.

I had just lost old Ted who I had for 14 months so there was a little space at home. So home she came and her and Bonnie were as if they had lived together always. That was three years ago. She is now 14. She loves going for walks but just doesn't like a lead on. So whatever it takes goes with Tessa. She surely knows how to get her own way but looks like butter wouldn't melt.

This is the one that ate the 5lbs of quality Street last Christmas if you remember.

Gorgeous Girl....she doesn't look anywhere near 14 years.
Jan, when you told us that Bonnie had passed away, you mentioned Tessa and Duke.
I have met Bonnie and Tessa but not Duke. Is he also a Golden?

Thank for you lovely comments on Tessa.

To answer your question. Duke is a golden. He is about 13 as well and came into Rescue two years ago in a dreadful state. He had been kept in a garage and all his elbows were bleeding and sore. He was grossly overweight and could not walk more than a few yards. He had had all his hair cut of, probably because his coat was in such a state. He also had a growth in his testicles. An old friend of mine said he would take him and see how he went on. We had him castrated to remove the growths. He lost weight and started walking more His hair grew and we realised he wasn't 14 as his previous owner had said he was.

However my friend, his new owner had a stroke a year ago and I brought Duke home until he could go back home but that is not to be so he is here with me for his life. SO that is Duke's story. He is a grand old fellow and enjoys his slow walks with me and Tess.

Poor lad, what a heartbreaking and pityfull sight, he must have been so unhappy. We say time and again....how can this happen....but it does.

Now he's happy....loved and cared for. :1939:

Thank you for his story Jan x

She is a very lovely dog. She has the same face and coat as our Jazz. She does not look her age, but the light Retrievers do not seem to show their age. Candy is slightly older than Jazz but she does look her age.
So glad Duke has a good home for his Golden Years.

Jan I have said it before and will say it again, you really are a saint, you must be so devoted to all your dogs, and they to you.How you cope with the ones who need special care and love is an inspiration to us all :1999:
