wet ezhema

Bronson is off to the vets tommorrow as he has started with the Ezhema again. It happened when we had a hot spell a couple of years ago he starts to nibble then with in a short time it breaks out all weepy.The last time the vet had to shave his leg but the vet had to sadate him,as he is a real softy.At the moment he is really looking sorry foe his self.
He real was troubled with his ears but Thanks to jan we got him some thornit and he has never been to the vets with this ear problem since.

We had a bout of W/E with Woody. Took him to the Vets, he just snipped the hair off and advised salt water bathe. That cost somewhere in the region of £52.00. I had it cleared in a matter of days!

1 tsp salt in 1/2 pint of very warm water, lots of cotton wool and kitchen roll.

Ears, I'm going to get Thornit to try after reading so many reports on here, the stuff from the Vets I found to be too oily, it made little soggy spots. Once again, salt water rescued.

This is a very old remedy for wet eczema. As soon as you see a hot spot starting clip all the hair off so the air can get to it then cover it with cornflour. Dry cornflour. You can us a hibiscrub each day to get rid of the yellow gunge then put some more cornflour on. You must get on to it as soon as you notice it if it gets too painful you will then need to go to the vets but this immediate treatment can save you pounds.

Thanks for your help.We went to the vets last night.
I phoned the vets op at 9 30 to get in to see him through me saying that bronson cant wait till the next day. He cried if we touched it we cut the fur of in the morning and the vet gave him some tablets he has to take them over 5 days redusing the dose after the first two days.The vet said we had just caught it in time befoe it breaks out.
They are called Prednisolone had a look on the net and they are steriods but it is only for 5 days.
We was up most of the night last night with him , i ended up sitting with him we put a wet towel over him to cool him down as he does not like the heat at all.Anyway this morning he is fine settled and back to his normal self.Thanks Jan got some cornflour to try for if it happens again
Got Bronson weighed and he has stopped the same weight for 2 years 31kg so we are happy about that mind you if he had his own way he would eat more.

The trick is to catch it as soon as they start scratching. Get the fur off and use the cornflour. It just takes all the heat out. When they go in water a lot and one patch doesn't dry properly that can start it off.

Hope Bronson is feeling better soon this hot weather dosent suit them (doesnt suit me really!)...touch wood we havent had W/E....yet! but will keep the cornflour handy just in case we do....


As for Thornit, yes use it and wonderful stuff.....

Our vet gives us fuciderm gel - apply that and over a few days its sorted - we always have a tube in stock and as soon as there is any sign of a rash we apply it for a day or two and its gone - its only about £15 a tube and the vet will usually let us have a tube without a consultation so it only costs us the price of the gel

Had Bronson back to the vets today and they have given him some Fruciderm Gel and some Anitbiotics.

There is now a rash as well, Bronson is really feeling sorry for himself and the hot weather is not helping.

Thanks Bronson is feeling better now the weather has cooled down a bit we keep putting wet towels on him that cools him down.
