When we took Poppy to the vet just after she came home he said that she 'won't be going for any long walks'. I must admit she doesnt exactly gallop around, but she certainly enjoys her long slow plods. At the weekend we went to Formby and she had a lovely walk on the beach and up and down the sandhills, followed by a stroll through the squirrel reserve. We were out for almost 2 hours, with a few sit downs to rest for both her and me. (I'm not criticising our vet - we have taken both our other dogs there and are happy with them).
Right now she is lying on her back waiting to have her tummy rubbed.
We keep saying that it feels like she has been with us for ages, not just a few weeks.

Hello Julia
Why on earth did the vet say that?
We had similar treatment at the beginning of this year when Ginnie had a horrible 'cauliflower' looking warty thing that had grown quite large on her side... one vet said, well at her age, another vet said it could be this, it could be that, and it could be cancer, and then reinforced it with... well she could be 12 or 13 !!!! So we then went to see another vet which we usually tried to see, as he has been with us at the start... and at the end of Abby's and Jasmine's lives. He examined Ginnie, 'no problem bring her in I'll have that removed in 20-30mins, otherwise it will cause a problem in a few months time especially if Cobi bashes it,' (every chance of that happening) Sadly he has now moved too far away from our area fo us to visit.

He probably thought as she is 10 then walking might be a problem. Luckily it isn't. I am so pleased she has settled in with you. They know when they have landed on their paws.

Well done Poppy, hope she keeps proving the vets wrong, :thumb left but be careful she doesn't over do things, Snowy did a little to much on fun day, and it set him back a little, but hes fine now.Take things slowly and she may surprise everyone.
