i am so happy to read this great news and to see those lovely photos. i have now decided that my heartache has lessened enough for me to welcome a beautiful dog like this into our home. I read your beautifully written posts about the loss of your dog in recent months, also the lovely piece about how you brought that handsome boy home as a puppy. it resonated with me very much as i recalled bringing our beloved Oscar home aged 9 weeks, and I felt for you having lost your dog as I lost Oscar before Christmas.
Bonnie is missing her best friend and there is a big gap where he used to be. He can never be replaced but I want to offer a home to a dog in need of one so he can run on the beach and lie by my feet. This dog will have his own personality and he will get all the love he needs from me and my family. I am sure Willow is happy to have Woody for company, despite having her nose put out of joint initially!
So I am now on a wait list....Jan has been very helpful and I have so much admiration for her doing what she does. If I did not have the internet access I have acquired recently I would not have been so aware of the dogs needing homes...I am so glad to have found this great site which I have looked at very closely and where there are so many stories with happy endings for these wonderful dogs.
I am so happy that you decided to give Woody a home, he is a lovely-looking dog and I am sure having him with you will go some way to ease the pain of losing your beloved Timber. It looks from those lovely photos that he was meant to be with you. What a lovely, heartwarming story. He will get loads of love thats clear and of course its a 2 way street, he will bring you so much joy.

HI,
Just an update on Woody. We went down to Cornwall lastweek, and of course he came with us. We had a lovely time again, although the weather at times left a lot to be desired. Woody and Willow had a great time, in the sea, on the beach, and in the moor river. Every where we went, people were stopping to make a fuss of them both, Willow laps it up, whilst Woody was into usual Goldie mode and being aloof. No thanks, you're not mine!!
What a star he is, such a gentle boy. Jan did us proud there, we could never thank her enough for this wonderful boy. On the beach one day, I thought blow, we'll try him off lead. Ran with Willow, then when I called him, straight back no hesitation, what a good lad.
He is the most wonderful boy, and yes, it was love at first sight for me. Jan had told me about him, and when I saw him it just made my heart leap. He is everything and more that we could wish for. Only downside, as I told Jan, he's another Dads kid, me----spare part or what :2091: Wouldn't swap him for the world. :1945:

David will post photos later. Having bother with this darned machine :2010:

So glad that he has his 'feet under the table', glad he likes the beach. Ginnie is still very aloof, affection on her terms
only.

Know what you mean about being a 'spare part' Ginnie and Cobi have me all day, I'm the one who feeds them, and attends to their every need !!! they couldn't care less about me when Hubby comes home from work.

Look forward to the photographs.

Hi Lynn,
Good to hear you all had a lovely holiday, made extra special having Woody to share it with you.
Ella is a "daddy's girl" too, and can be quite aloof...just stares into space when someone speaks to her :2091:

Looking forward to the pics'

Just an update on Woody.

He is settling down to his new life wonderfully. Yesterday, for the first time, he played with Willow (Goldie style) rolling, mouthing and growling. It was lovley to see them both. The lad was a bit upskittled after the holiday, yet another change of scenery. Slowly, he's back into the swing of things, and enjoying every minute. Like Timber, he's a real outdoor sort of chap. Squeeks with delight when he knows it's walk time, sounds really funny. Also, he knows the TIME !!!!! Breakfast time,Tea time, Walk time. Got it all down to a fine art :2090:

I think that when we were getting this dog, someone, somewhere, was looking down on us and thinking, Well, this may be the last one they ever get, so we'd better get it right.( Age playing a role here.)
All the lovely special little ways that our other dogs have had, only belonging to themselves, have all been rolled into Woody, it's quite uncanny. He does things that we just look at each other, and do that knowing smile. Can't quite weigh up, whether he was waiting for us to come along, or we him. Either way, it's a match made in Heaven. It feels as though he's always been with us, another absolute Joy of a Dog. Willow adores him, not so much as a bad word passed between them.

So again...THANKYOU Jan xxxxxxx :love4

I often think fate does play a part and I think Timber was looking down from above and had a word with him upstairs, when I saw his name Woody and you recently lost Timber, I got goosebumps,it was definately meant to be....he is a gorgeous boy.... :1939:

I'm glad that Willow and Woody (that sounds lovely) are best of pals.
It's lovely when they start playing rough and tumble with each other, grabbing of the ears and neck. All our dogs have played, and I can honestly say I can't ever remember coming downstairs in the morning without finding an inch of dust on the TV, that had settled from the previous evenings bashing and batterings, or that 'they' had put their toys back into the toy box.

It's nice to think that maybe our previous dogs are 'watching us' Cobi does the strangest things sometimes, as if Abby is egging on.... 'go on do it see if you get into trouble like I did'.
This is probably another 'golden thing' sometimes when you call Cobi she stops and casually glances backwards over her shoulder, with the 'you talking to me look' and then trots off in the other direction, I can't see you so I can't hear you attitude. :1967

Woody got a name change. We have another Golden nearby with his old name, so decided to change it.
He got the name by strange circumstances. On the way over to Jans, David said he wanted a name like Timbers,
all our dogs have had what I call country names. David said " look at the shop signs " as we were driving through the next village on our way to Jans, One of the signs was above a lovely interiors shop, called Woodcliffe. Wood, Woody, says I. No arguing with David, Woody it was, and is.
Just to add to that, he answered to that name from day 2, what a star. :1951:

It's a lovely story Lynn.
He's settled wonderfully well with you all.
I believe that fate can play a part. Some things are just meant to be :1959:
