THANK YOU ALL

Post by Hel_Pen »

Last month my heart was broken when one of my beloved dogs Daisy died. I had to put her to sleep following a thankfully short and painfree battle against a brain tumour. She never did things by half and true to form the radiologist said he had never seen a tumour so big. Just a week before she had been running around causing mischief and mayhem without a care in the world, so it was a massive shock. Tragically she was a couple of months short of her 6th birthday.

I am still blessed to have her half-sister Jazz, who is 7 years old. Stupidly I thought that if I had two dogs it would hurt less if one died as I would still have the other. Oh how wrong could I be.

As this is the first time I have lost a dog I have taken great comfort from reading all your posts about your losses. I have also smiled and loved looking at your pictures and reading your stories of what your dogs get up to. They are all so different and wonderful in their own way. Given time I am sure Jazz will have a new play mate.

I have attached a few photos below (if I have done it correctly), which I hope you will enjoy looking at. The first is Jazz swimming, followed by Daisy with very dirty paws. Then are two professional pics of Jazz and Daisy.

Thank you again for helping me through this difficult time and I look forward to sharing more happy times with you in the future.

Helen.

Hello Hel Pen

We all 'help' each other on this website whether you've got a rescue golden from Jan or not... It doesn't make any difference whether you have one, two, three or any amount of dogs, you still miss them terribly when you have to say goodbye, I even get upset when my friends have lost their dogs. :1971

lovely photographs, your Jazz looks like our Ginnie.

Hello Helen,
I was so sad to hear of your loss of Daisy. Losing a dog is a terrible experience, and I am sure Jazz misses Daisy too.
Is Jazz the Jazz on the back of Sam's Golden Cookbook, coming out of the water with a fish in its mouth?
The pictures of both dogs were lovely.
Best wishes - Joyce (Samsmum)

Joyce,
Jazz on the cookery book is one of Jans rescues, he owns Pat and Syd.

Lovely photos of the dogs.
So sorry to hear of your loss. Never easy, no matter how many you have or had. They are all our friends with their own personalities, and each one leaves behind a special memory and place in your heart.

Hi Helen,

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of Daisy.
To let her go with dignity and in peace was your final act of love for her.
Although her life was short, she will have left you with some wonderful memories.

The pictures are lovely!

Water, mud and huge noses on lovely irresistable faces - those beautiful pictures just sum up all goldens everywhere.

Thank you for sharing them.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I sometimes wonder whether the hole they leave in your heart is five or six times bigger than the area they can cover with hair on a carpet.

Jazz does have a claim to fame. I used to have a dog walker and her picture was on Sarah's leaflets.

I am so glad that I was made redundant in September so I had more time to spend with both of them. Now I work from home. Jazz is more aware of my movements as Daisy was the boss and used to let me know if anyone was coming to the door. She was always the first to greet me when I came home. My only regret is that I didn't show Jazz her body. It wasn't really very practical and at the time she didn't seem to be missing her. Sometimes when Jazz looks at me its as if she's saying what have you done with my sister!

Hi Helen

Sorry to hear about Daisy, its horribly quick. Our Ben (who was also 6) was fine one day on the beach, stumbled a couple of times and died a couple of days later of the same thing.

Goldies certainly get under your skin and worm their way into your hearts.

hello
i can only echo whats been said already, sadly many of us know just how you feel, this is a great site for comfort and support and good advice, i found this after losing both of my dogs within a year .
take care, cry whenever as its healing and take time to mourn your loss and rest assured the pain will gradually ease and you will be smiling and laughing at the antics of your beloved dog.
