WASHING LINE OF CLOTHES

Post by superjazz »

Did anyone read about Bailey the Golden in this mornings press?
He was suspected of having a tumour, when he was operated on the following items came to light in his stomach.
Two Golf gloves.
Two Rugby gloves
One mitten.
Nine socks.
One stocking
The Vet who operated on him said it was like performing a magic trick removing them all one after another.
The suspected tumour turned out to be 17 items of clothing!!
Bailey has now made a full recovery. !!

What a relief it must have been for his owners!!

Must admit the youngsters do like to pull the washing off the line and swinging on a pair of tights whereas the older ones have a good rummage through the wash basket :2372:

It is funny that his owners hadn't missed any of those items before they mounted up to so many. Goldens are dreadful at eating anything. My old Barney used to eat the dishcloths we were so lucky they came out the other end in one piece. My boys used to say " I hope you are not thinking of washing them now" Would I ?

We had one boy in the kennels years ago, he had been in a while and I was using Dorothy's kennels then. It was going dusk and she had gone in to check them all and I got a frantic phone call " Jan I think we have a problem Fred seems to have some sort of hernia or something more drastic. Off I went thinking I was then on my way to the vets. However the offending hernia was a pair of tights which we managed to pull gently out. Much to Fred's relief I would imagine. As said before he had been in for quite a while so had swallowed them before he came in.

Yes we saw it on the news, it reminded my of Gemma (Mums first Golden) her friend Jo was talking to Mum she just thought Gemma was being fussy so she stroked her, and whoosh the hankie that was tucked up Jo's sleeve was gone, Gemma ran outside before anyone could get to her, and it came to pass.... a couple of days later, Mum did ask Jo if she wanted it back after it had been washed !!
Jade daughter of Gemma used to swing on the washing on the whirly gig, Gemma would run backwards and forwards into the kitchen wanting Mum to see what Jade was up to.
A birthday present for my Husband (a clamp and base for fly tying) was packaged up in those 'quaver squiggly things' and I had closed the cardboard box by interleafing it and left it on the ottoman in our bedroom, hubby had managed at short notice to get a days holiday so we had the day planned out.. Ginnie the 'thievy treevie' managed to open the box and she ate the lot whilst I had walked to the shops, it's a wonder the metal base and the clamp didn't knock her senseless. To cut a long story short she had 8 hours at our vets, in the meantime I had found one of these 'quavers' under the bed and found that it dissolved in water like bread...she did look sorry for herself when we collected her, we had only had Ginnie a short time, but soon learned to put those kind of things straight into the outside bin which has a lid on. :2019:

what a story....nothing so worrying here but my first bitch Kizzy had a thing for socks which we always had to watch out for. another bitch Bonnie now aged 13 did not show this love of clothes, but her housemate, Oscar who sadly died last November, fetched a pyjama jacket of mine from the laundry basket and took it to his bed when I was in hospital for a week in 2004. The vet explained that despite the cleanly washed scent the dog could get past this with his own sense of smell and could smell me on the jacket.....he said this is why goldens often go for clothes, they are usually very attached to their owners and clothes carry their owners scent.
I could have made a profit from Oscar's liking for golf balls, when we lived 5 mins from Crosby beach he would go in the dunes and fetch us back one after another, all lost there by folks practising their swing. Obviously because of the size of these objects once we saw he had a thing for golf balls we watched him with an eagle eye so no harm came to him and he always dropped them at my feet before running off to dig some more. At one time he dug so much I thought he might reach Australia!! I had a collection 0f 60 golf balls found by the big fella which I have given away to a variety of practising golfers on that beach. What a nutcase our Oscar was. So glad to hear that the vet only had to perform a Paul Daniels act on your dog and that no harm came to him.
