Golden Retrievers and small children
I am seriously thinking about getting a golden retriever. I have neighbours with 2 kids 3 yrs and 4 yrs and a few friends with new born babies. What advise does anybody have on what sort of age of dog to go for? any similar experiences would be really useful. A puppy might be too boisterous but is potentially easier to train then an older animal who might potentially have a story to tell. Thanks so much in advance for any thoughts, it is really appreciated.

It is entirely up to you what age you go for no-one can tell you what is right for you. Of course if you are worried about what baggage an older dog has then a Rescue may not be for you.
Although most Goldens are happy with young children I personally do not place dogs with children usually under 7 but in some cases I will go to just over 5 depending on how the child is with the dog.
