A thought for today

There's something comforting about being in a house where dog hair litters the sofa and bedspreads.

But not as comforting when they appear inside the mircowave as if by magic!

You find them on your hubbys best dinner suit and come to the all too quick conclusion he's having an affair with 'some blond.'

And when you turn on the oven, you can smell hair burning.

Or when the vicar came to call when our grandsons were going to be christened. Of course Ella got to the door first, and he was all in black She stuck to him like glue.........so did her hair

shortly there will be lots of bird nests lined with dog hair around here, I think Candy's will be particularly sought after.
so do not get rid of the hairs just yet

When I groom the dogs, I always leave the hair on the garden for the birds. Just love to see them gathering it up. All with their little golden moustaches. As for hair elsewhere, it gets into the most unbelievable places. some which I shalln't mention, only to say it tickles.

This is so right When we go on our holidays to Tenerife we take a little bit of out dogs with us, on our clothes in the suitcase. I to love watching the birds collecting the dog hairs, their nests will need to be warm tonight poor things.

I know it's not a garden bird website but they have got my dog's fur in their mouths. The blue tits and great tits have been in and out of our bird boxes since the middle of January, I keep bags of fur ready for the birds, they fly off 'blindly' with 'desperate Dan moustaches' (was that the Beano or Dandy comic, I can't remember?)

That is a great saying Jan, and very true. I always feel so much at home in other people's houses if they have dogs, unless the dogs are put away in cages, then I'm not so happy.

Super pictures again Lynda. Just captures what has been said. I love to watch the sparrows and in Summer when I am brushing the dogs outside they wait in line to pick up the hair as soon as I get it off the brush. I watch them for hours.

Gorgeous pics Lynda. We used to have dozens of Goldfinch. They would take the hair and the sheep's wool off the fence, but they don't seem to come anymore. Plenty of sparrows and bluetits though

I took the blue tit in 2007 and the goldfinch in 2006, sometimes we have up to 18 goldfinches and then just 2 or 3, lots of bossy little blue tits (I love their faces) there has been a blackcap in our garden all week and I managed to get photos of it together with a goldcrest on the 'bought' fat balls.
Cobi has been a little madam since the snow arrived, in, out, in, and out racing around like her bum was on fire, she 'liberated' 6 cooked chicken thighs from the back of the worktop on Sunday afternoon, ironically whilst we went to see where our new veterinary hospital had moved to a few days before, I then had to phone and speak to the emergency nurse for advice when we got back home. I didn't really know which of them had stolen the chicken thighs, I had checked their mouths, I know that Ginnie could have reached them as Ginnie still stands on her back feet to retrieve gloves etc., which have been left on the back of the kitchen table, and then struts into the lounge with her 'prized possession'.
Cobi kindly brought most of them up the following morning on the 'dirt trapper' in the hallway. The nurse had said keep a close eye on them during the night and had said that we could bring them both to the surgery right away to make them both sick, poor Ginnie does not like going in to the vets and her first impression of the 'new' premises would have been awful if she hadn't have been one of the thieves. No problems during Sunday evening they continued to 'bash' each other, the only difference was Cobi didn't squawk at me to feed her, no wonder her little tummy was full of chicken thighs intended for my Husband's to take to work for his lunch!! She ate her dinner over several minutes instead of woofing it down, little thievy treevie.

When we had Luke he was like that, pce when we went out he took my mobile off charge and chewed it up two mobiles he distroyed.
