There's something strange in MY garden

Post by Eastonwolfs »

Thought I would share this photo from a few weeks ago...

Amber on her bedtime toilet routine combined with her nightly 'cat check' of the garden...she came across this...was quite funny as she kept running towards it then away from it...was sure she was going to grab it and toss it in the air, but she didn't...thankfully!

It was a big un, as you can see?

We had a fox wandering in our street one night last week aswell...

Full of wildlife in Lancashire we are!!

Hoppy hedgehog

Post by Cobi and Ginnies Mum »

Bless her,
Cobi found a small one in the flower border a few months ago, and then she had to check that spot every time she went outside, she was a real pain!
When I was a child we had a Heinz 57 collie labrador spaniel, and he had a 'special bark' and you knew he had a hedgehog in the garden, but he tried to unravel them and always ended up at the vets for treatment to his paws, he wouldn't leave them alone, the garden hose was the only thing that parted him from 'hoppy', that sounds cruel now doesn't it?

Ella once tried to pick one up, now she just 'paws' the ground in front of it.

Her funniest one is when she comes across a frog or a toad, she touches it with her nose then runs backwards......fast

Toady

There would have been a load scream if my two had picked it up.
Just thinking about when I stepped out of the caravan into the awning,
( I'm at that age where I really should put my specs on sometimes!!!! you know the arms get longer and longer.... when you are trying to read. ) I thought one of our dogs had had an accident on the grass, closer inspection... a toad, it could of been worse...next time the groundsheet goes down.

Our rescue golden Jessica found a hedgehog at the farm where we keep our horses. It was in a pile of old wood hiding, and she picked it up and very carefully brought it to me to show me. I wasn't sure if it was alive or not but, boy was it a big one! I put it onto a shovel and replaced it in the undgergrowth. Then the problem was stopping her going to see if her prize was still there. It must have had quite a shock because it scuttled away and disappeared never to be seen again. To this day I don't know how she picked it up without getting prickled because it was rolled up so tight and she had it in her mouth just like her beloved tennis ball!!
