EARLY MORNING ESCAPE

Post by RUSSELL »

Hi Folks

just thought i would share my early morning excitement arrived at our
local woods with japer at 6.30am and walked with a man and his dog
for a while i awas waitign about six foot away from jasper as he was going to play with another goldie so i though the gentleman passed me and said your dog has just gone over that wall I saw jasper (road runner)
heading for a horse drinking well so i thought, but by the time i got there no sign of jasper rang home after 5 minutes got bridget to come to look as well. He had been spotted by another dog walker aprox half a mile away
near a pond he swam in last night. So we both headed to this pond. In the
mean time or son rang to say he had been found in the next village. There
he was large as life waiting at the bus stop all smiles a looking at why Mum and dad arriving in two cars to meet him. So into market to day to
get to new discs with our mobile numbers on he is chipped as well so given
the mobile numbers to the chip people. all back home by 7-30am safe and
sound. The best Laugh was when you look back a gentleman in the car park thought me and bridget were meeting up for naughty before work until bridget explained we were man and wife and our dog had just been
missing and found int the next village we both had a good laugh when bridget explained to me what he thought we were up to. We still love him
to bits and would not swap him for the world just could do with less excitement in the early morning. He has never done this before

He probably thought you wre following him.

We are supposed to make our heart race every day, or so they say. But I think that kind would just about finish you off ?>? :) He had a good time though didn't he?

It must have been one of those weeks for people losing their dogs...

Tuesday night coming out of Manchester (in what can only be described as armageddon) as all the motorways and roads were blocked...came across a young doberman wandering along the east lancs...a mix between having a sniff here and there and trying to negoitiate 3 lanes of traffic to cross the road...my heart was in my mouth...

I ended up picking up the owner in my car after spotting him in the rear view mirror trying to catch up with the dog...getting alongside the dog and the 2 of us trying to catch him...unfortunately we couldn't and another car and a bus tried to corner 'Buster' on a slip road...poor Buster was only young and completely bewildered by this time...his owner looked close to collapse...

In the end I had to leave him to it...another woman stopped her car further on and tried to entice Buster to her...but he was too bewildered...and kept on running...

Felt so sorry for the guy as it seemed so futile...still wondering now what happened to poor Buster...he was lovely...

What a worry. I bet that poor man was distraught. Hope the dog has found it's owner now.

Once when Genys & I were out fetching a dog we saw a Golden wandering on the main road by a busy junction with traffic lights. We watched as this dog walked down the street and was just going to cross the road when we leapt out of the car and quickly put a lead on it. We have done this many times as you may well imagine. We were just putting him in the car. Just to keep hem out of harms way while we asked about for his owner when a large irate man came puffing up from down the street where he has apparently been watching his dog . He always has a walk down here to go on the grass over there. Over there was across the main road. Well you can imagine us both. We were dumbstruck which is a rare occurence as you well know. Anyway eventually we told him what we thought of his dog walking and went on our way. He wasn't best pleased. He didn't know how lucky he was to only get a tongue lashing. Glenys can be quite frighteneing in outrage  mode.

Blimey Jan',

How lazy can folk get. Why bother with a dog if you can't be ars--d walking the poor love. You did right giving him an ear bashing, pity Lynda hadn't been with you as well  Now that would have been in the papers...3 of you. :D

Its a funny thing this as you do see some dogs around and about and they look like they are taking themselves for a walk and I have seen some cross a busy road safely on their own...looking left and right to find a safe time to cross...doing the green cross code infact!

This doesn't make it right though!!

There must be something in the air. Reading Russells account of loosing Jasper, made me think back a few weeks to our walk in those same woods. We set off fine, but it was Willows first encounter of the carvings that are in the forest. We met up with a lady that's got working Labs, her pup and Willow had a great time romping together, then Willow spotted a carving in the clearing, she was off like a bullet out of a gun. We had no idea where she went. David running and calling in one direction, me in the other. Lady with Labs in the middle. David spotted her in the far distance, so headed that way, whilst I circled round to join up with him. Met a guy with 2 Rotties on the way and asked him if he had seen her, Yes, by the car park. Running hell for leather by this time, heart rate soaring by the second. All the way I'm having thoughts of"what will I say to Jan". By the time we met up, there was little treasure playing away in the field next to the car park, totally oblivious to the panic that had unfolded.Needless to say, that was more than enough excitement for one day, off home for a cuppa. Have been since, and she didn't bat an eyelid at them.!!

flipping heck, I think that one would have made me run if I hadn't been expecting to see it. A bit scary. It looks a super walking place so interesting for the dogs and you as well.

Agree with you Jan. They all have really evil faces, the first time we saw them they gave me the eeby geebies. You wouldn't want to come across them on a dark night, would you? Having said that, they are all carved beautifully. Think there was an open day, and there was a man giving a demo'. The local council then had them installed around the forest.

It looks a nice place for walking...Willow seems really inquisitive doesn't she?

And Timber, an old hand at it all...

Lovely :D
