We are sad to tell you that dear old Blossom was put to sleep this morning, at the grand old age of 17 years and 16 days.
Her mobility, sight, hearing and co-ordination were becoming increasingly of concern in recent months, and her toilet habits were not as they should have been. After much thought, and to prevent her being in pain or discomfort, we reluctantly took the decision to have her put to sleep this morning. She laid with us on the sofa as we stroked her until almost asleep then the vet did her work. Blossom showed no signs of distress and slipped away peacefully.
She was loved by family, friends and villagers and she will leave a huge gap in all our lives.
We got her from you in January 2004 and has been an absolute delight ever since. We were also fortunate that Blossom never suffered from any major illnesses or injuries.
Thank you Retriever Rescue for giving us this wonderful pet.

Re: Goodbye Blossom
So VERY sorry to hear this news Yvonne, we shall always remember her from the walks on the moor.
Such a good age but none the less a hard time for you both.
Sweet memories

Re: Goodbye Blossom
I am so sorry to hear this news but you have let her go peacefully in your arms and this is the last loving act we can do for our beloved pets. She has had a wonderful long loved life with you but it doesn't take away any of the heartache of losing her. The time we have with them is never long enough. We are all thinking of you

Re: Goodbye Blossom
Good heavens, many thanks David and Lynn for posting this lovely photo. Yes, the twice daily walks on the moor were one of the reasons why Blossom lasted so long (in spite of her being obviously overweight on this photo!). It's good to see Julie with Amber and Max - haven't seen her for a few years.
A cherished memory.
