Mud magnet indeed

Post by bentley »

So. Yesterday me and bentley are strolling round the Millennium Green in Hoddlesden, I'm enjoying the peace and quiet, Bentley's mooching and sniffing and cocking his leg every three seconds now that he's learnt how to do it. he always takes a sneaky look out of one eye to make sure I'm watching as he performs his new party piece.

He disappeared into a bush and came back 15 seconds later as a black dog with a white mohican.

WHAAAAATT??? How the hell.......? I was bemused, I hadn't heard a splosh or a sploosh and he was only gone for a few seconds.

Far too dirty for a rub down with a towel or even a wash down. This required a bath. he was caked in it. Still, he looked all nice and fluffy and white after it.

Today - on the same stroll with Aunty Twitchy the black labrador, I was careful to avoid the spot where he'd done his disappearing trick yesterday.

Haha!! Gotcha! Woman cleverer than dog.

Apparently not. Fat lot of good that did.

He saw a muddy puddle. NOOOOOO!!!! :2008: :2008: :2008: He walked up to it then he lay down in it, at which point he decided to have a good roll in it before lying there on his side grinning up at my horrified face. I was gobsmacked!

The whole operation took him about 10 seconds. Dagnabbit dog!!! Why can't you stay clean just for a day? Why can't you roll in the clean puddles? :2005:

Aunty Twitchy just stood and looked at him as if to say, "Is that really necessary, Bentley?'

Sigh. Tell me again why I love him so much :2029:

Yes typical, JB would only paddle in the sea or water but a big deep dirty smelly flooded field, well that was a different matter.. :love2

You dont understand Bently yet, he is getting dirty for your benefit, he knows how much you love to wash and brush him up, because when he is clean you are forever telling him how beautifull he is, thats why.

Another relative of dear Cobi !!!!!! Bless him :love4

Well we left the caravan last weekend thanks to the owner,we could have got off but the field would have looked at bit of a mess, anyway we are due there very shortly, it's the most beautiful place very close to the Malvern Hills, anyway this really is doggy chat...... stupidly I decided that we would go right at the bottom of the field where we could see the birds and take better photographs from inside the awning, it was lovely and sunny and very dry when we arrived....BUT there must have been a channel or should that be 'canal' running right under the 'van and through the awning, the only trouble with breathable goundsheets is that the water/mud comes up through them.... but we have never seen Cobi behave like this before, she stood on the double step, back legs on the top step and front on the lower and deep in thought, then she carefully made her way around the edge of the awning skirt so her feet didn't get muddy..... I couldn't believe what I was watching and she did it everytime !!!!!
So the following day we pulled the 'van into a drier spot...no mud, and Cobi was happy again, she marches up and down the step into the caravan.... a walk 30 mins later over St. Wulstan's and Cobi was wallowing in the muddy stream......
As Billy Connolly says 'there is no such thing as bad weather.... just inappropriate clothing'.....we had a lovely walk and the rain was coming down in 'stair rods'.
I would say thank goodness for dirt trapper mats as they 'suck the mud up and you just bung them in the wash' but they have changed something since we started buying them over 15 years ago and even the multigrip ones 'creep about', and having complained and left a negative review the company doesn't like criticism, and were quite patronising... strange how the oldest mat in the caravan is still ok and stays put!
