Does anyone else have the same problem in doorways?Have to do the splits to get past!!
Don't mind though its good exercise!!

Doorway dogs, it's an unconditional part of Goldie ownership. Trouble is, the splits get harder with age.

Lying in doorways is mandatory for a Golden as they like to see what goes on in at least two rooms at a time. Striding over one or two dogs gets increasingly difficult especially if you have your hands full and can not put a hand out to balance against the wall

All part of the rich pattern of life with Goldens.

Yes lying in a doorway is mandatory for a golden,Emily lies in front of the door regularly and you cant get in or out, but will she move,not a chance, shes a stubborn little lady when she wants to be, a typical women .The pics are great, two lovley and very lucky dogs.

Thanks everyone.I was once carrying a load of washing and trod on something really soft thought it must be a cushion.It was dear old Bosun(the one locked in his owners pantry all his life)he didn't make a sound never mind a growl.Knowing Bosun he would have thrown himself in front of me to cushion my fall he was so devoted.

Yes, they are all as bad, the lads as well. Sam lies in doorways, just in case he misses anything. In the mornings when we are getting ready, he lies in the doorway, watching what we are putting on. If David is putting on old clothes (gardening!) all is well, if he puts something a bit smarter on (going to town!) all eyes and ears in case a chaperone is required. If he puts on his black trousers and jacket (he plays for funerals at various crems, and churches in the Manchester area!!) - red alert, he is going to be left either alone, if I am going out (somehow he doesn't seem to bother as much about me going out - I only feed him, groom him and spoil him!!) or with me, and then I am a target for "Come and throw a ball in the garden, Mum!"
Yes, doorways are a terrible hazard, when we had Meg, I was coming out of the bathroom with a pile of towels for the washer, and being rather on the short side, couldn't see over them, and went over Meg. I landed on top of her, and she just raised her head and gave me a baleful look - you know, what in Heaven's name is the woman doing now? - and went off to sleep again. I got up in agony, and went to the Doctors. I had cracked some ribs!!
I think we shall have to devise some form of leapfrog for mature people!! Any ideas?

Oh my goodness poor you.I knew someone who trod on their collie(lassie type) and it bit her really badly on the leg.Can't imagine a Golden doing that especially rescue ones.How clever to know what is happening next.I really think they are mind readers sometimes.Holly our second Golden used to go and hide if i got the frying pan out-cheeky she knew i was going to set the smoke alarm off!!!!Says it all about my cooking!!

Our Amber has this knack of just moving her snout half an inch to let you open the door so she doesn't have to move...I don't know how she manages to judge the distance but she does...

Candy loves the kitchen entrance , next to fridge.
She thinks that as you step over her you might spill some food which is being transported to dining room.
Our two are just the same with clothes, they know the difference between work gear and dog walking gear. Coats always get a good sniffing.
They are very intuitive. The other day I was in a shunt involving a car and three vans . I was stopped at lights. you always get a good greeting when coming home, but this particular day and having come home a bit shaken the Goldie heads immediately came on the lap . As if to say I know something is wrong. We can help. Lovely dogs arent they.

Awww what adorable pictures i am sure they just like to make sure you are not going anywhere with out them, as if you would. Brad you have to watch when stepping over him as he suddenly gets up the number of times a cuppa has nearly gone flying.

I can sympathize with you samsmum, about six weeks ago, whilst out with my two I slipped on some wet grass, down I went falling backwards and hitting a large wooden post as I went down with my side. The pain was so bad as soon as I reached home, as my wife was in she took me straight to casualty, they said they weren't sure if Id cracked a rib or just bruised them, but as the only treatment for both is rest they didn't need to xray them. The pain I have been in since then as been horrendous, the first few weeks I could hardly move, let alone lie down or sit up.At first to put my socks on was impossible. If I coffed or sneezed I was in agony. Slowly things are improving, but Im still in pain when I lie on my left side, and get twinges when I turn sharply or if any one bumps into my side. I Hope no one else has the miss fortune to suffer broken or bruised ribs.

So sorry to hear of your misfortune Lenny, hope you are soon up to speed.

Oh heck Lenny so sorry you have been suffering.I am still sore from when the lorry wrote my car off over 3 months ago.Still on anti-inflamms.Soft tissure damage does take a long time i'm afraid.Wish you luck with it.
