Retriever Rescue

Today we met a couple that live nearby, who we regularly meet dog walking. They have always had rescued Greyhounds. Having lost their oldie a short while ago, they have now rehomed a new boy. He is 3 years old, blue and fawn striped. We just had to stop and say "hello" to him. What a lovely gentle boy, so very thin, with old sore scars on his legs. He had been abandoned in a coal bunker, rescued, and went to Tia.
I had to give him a sweetie, (biscuit ), my way of making friends with new canines. He just stood and had his face petted, with those big sad eyes looking back. David and I were so upset to see him, but he now lives with a wonderful new Mum and Dad, so there is much love coming into his young life.
When we made to carry on walking, he turned around, gazing after us. Gosh, it tore at the heart strings, believe me. How can people mistreat these poor souls, they ask for so little. Thank goodness there are lots of kind people out there, willing to give their hearts and homes to a rescue.

i too cannot understand the mentality of these people who treat our beautiful animals so heartlessy. they put all their trust in you they rely on you and all they get in return is heartbreak and pain. they truly do not deserve it. thank goodness for all the wondeful people who like yourself and myself have an overgrown heart who can give so much care and love to everything and everyone.i hope the greyhound has a loving always and a happy forever home.

Thats so sad...I know he has a new home...can just see the look on his little face...bless.

Greyhounds are such lovely dogs and so misused. Dumped when they can no longer run fast enough. I get the greyhounds in Need newsletter and it is appalling all over the world especially in Spain. At least this one has a loving forever home

My sister took on two Lurchers from the dog trust. Rosie when she came to visit would just go round in circles .Apparently she had been tied up in a barn. It took some time to get her confidence, she is now a loving dog. The other one Tye is a Greyhound Salukie cross and a very handsome dog, I think had been involved in lamping.
He has to go out with a muzzle on still, because he goes for anything that moves. He has gone for cats, squirrels (grey) .Needless to say he gets on well with our two. Anyway he certainly appreciates his new home and is no trouble in her house.

Greyhounds are such gentle dogs, we meet 2 on our walks sometimes they were a bit frightened by my two at first, typical golden "helloo, busy, busy etc, but now they wag their tails when we meet and its all very friendly...at least one is now in a good home...
