Hi All,
First of all thankyou for all your support and get well wishes.
The vet said that we had to phone at 10 00 am but at 9 00am the vet was on the phone to us asking us to collect him as he was causing a scene,she said he was fine if he was getting spoke to but as soon as she stopped he created.
Bronson is fine but he is really feeling sorry for himself which is to be expected.( keeps looking at us and whimpering)
He does look odd with his needlework in his leg.
We have to go back on tuesday for a check up.

Thats good news! Glad to hear he's doing so well. All the best to Bronson, hoping he has a speedy recovery.

So pleased to hear he's home. Jan rang today, so I asked if she'd heard anything. Brought me up to speed. It will be a slow process, how do you keep a Golden from acting daft!!!!! but I'm sure he'll be just fine.

Bronson's been for his check up at the vet tonight . Walked in wagging his tail, happy to see the vet, no hard feelings, typical GR.

The vet was a little supprised that Bronson was putting his foot down and putting a little weight on it.

The problem we have now is keeping quite, he is back to his normal self and seems to have forgotten about his operation

The vet has recommended Seraquin has anyone used this before?

I haven't used it myself but a few dogs have come in with it. I believe it is for arthritis and maybe some painkiller in it. May need it just for a while, but is he is moving about then the pain must not be bothering him. The trouble is it is a catch 22 situation. when they have had an op. You want to keep them painfree but quiet. if they are too painfree then they may do something daft and cause more problems. Pleased he is back to his happy self

Hi All,
We took bronson to the vets last night for his final check up,as it has been 6 weeks since his operation.
At last he can go out for longer walks but he has to be kept on his lead for 2 more weeks to be on the safe side because bronson is an energetic lunatic when he is not on the lead.\we got him weighed and in the 6 weeks he has put on 2 kilo but he will soon get back to his normal weght when he starts his running round. The vet was pleased with him he is no longer on the metacom now.
We hope everyboby is ok.

My advice would be to keep him on the lead for a further 6 weeks. then he can do as he likes. It would be disastrous if he ran and turned quickly and it was all undone. Better safe than sorry especially as we have daft dogs.

Thankyou for the advise,we will keep him on the lead for 6 weeks as it is better to be safe then sorry.
How long do you think we should walk him for to burn up some of his energy.
To be honest he has been so good through this.
I dont know if we have mentioned to you that our Grandson (Ben) has just been diagnosed with being Autistic and when Bronson sees him he sits with him and Bronson is so calm it is unbelivable.Bronson never leaves Bens side he is like his shadow.

I don't think there is any set time just do what you think is the right amount for him as long as it is slow to make him use the muscles in that leg. He needs to have really good strength to help keep everything in place. under no circumstances must he carry that leg he must be made to use use it. Running free will not do that as he will carry it along with the other one. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks jan for the quick reply,
I took him the first walk today 3/4 hour on the lead.When he got home he was fine not bounding up and down.
Bronson has been walking on his leg and not carrying it from a fortnight after the operation the vet was suprised with him.
We are not letting him off the lead for 6 weeks.You could see him this morning dying to have a run.
