He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.

You are his life, his love, his leader,

He will be yours, faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion. Anon

We know this don't we?

How are you and your dogs all managing the heat. We are not coping well here. :2005: I think Tessa is coping the best as nothing seems to bother her. :2094:

Jan, these words are both beautiful and comforting. A couple of months ago, a lady down the road had to have her little dog p.t.s. She was heartbroken. I gave her a card in which I wrote these words, putting them in the past tense. She said that she'd never read anything so comforting, and was going to have it framed.

I don't...DO...heat, just can't cope :2029: Ella has found that the garage floor is the coolest place, so the car has to stay in the drive for now. I'm seriously thinking about joining her :2074:

Lovely words...and here's a few more...or may be not so lovely... :2005:

Don't leave your dog/s in a car for even 5 mins...to pay the papers, get some milk, collect your prescription...whatever...just don't do it...

This was a tragedy today...and someone obviously made a really dreadful mistake...

We are dealing with extreme heat and its just not worth it...less than 20 minutes in a car in this heat can kill a dog... :2011:

We are struggling at home with the heat, Amber's not been eating her breakfast, she's not settling at night...at 1.45am last night it was a wet towel job (for Amber, I had the wet flannel and a fan!)...she's not a big drinker at the best of times, but we have bowls of fresh water everywhere...inside/outside and upstairs at night as she sleeps upstairs...

I wish she was a swimmer but she's not...not fond of the hose pipe either...just trying to keep everywhere as cool as we can...

Sorry to preach to the converted but I felt the need... :1963

Good one Susan,

Will echo your thoughts. Went into town on Wednesday to do the shopping, in Sainsburys car park, my attention was diverted to a car with a dog in it. The owner was there talking to some other people, so whether she had already been into the store, I don't know. I sat there for ages looking in the mirror to see what would happen. The car started up, so then I drove off. It really gets to me that people still do this to their dogs, there is so much publicity regarding hot cars and animals. There was something on local news lastnight, in Nottingham, a policeman, of all things, had left his 2 working G.S.Ds. in his car whilst he went into the station, both died.

There. my moan for the day. ( or at least the first of many!!!!) :2011: :2011: :2011:

When Jan first put those beautiful words on site, they struck a cord with me, so I printed the post off. Little knowing that a couple of weeks later, I would use them on Rainbow Bridge. They will always remain special to me. Thankyou Jan. xxx :love4

What beautiful words Jan and so so true ....
Brad has suffered more in the heat, panting away..
Ella is one of these mad dogs that like to sun bath so have had to keep bringing her in..
My two are like Amber and don't like the hose pipe or water, would of bought them a paddling pool other wise and probably got on with them :2073:

They are much happier and sleep beter now its cooled down a little :thumbleft

I could believe the supidity of the police office who left the dogs in the car :2011:
