Beds.

Hello everyone.

Since having Wick we have had 'vet bed' type mats for him to sleep on in the lounge. This has worked out great as I can have one in the washing machine, one clean and one out at any one time. Just recently he has started lying against the bottom step of our staircase in a tight ball. Im wondering if he would be better with a high sided bed that he can 'cutch' into. Having looked around at some websites, they all seem to be 'baby blue' or similar. As Wick is often covered in mud, damp and smelling like the fish tank I was wondering what beds you all have? Can you get high sided beds that are washable but still keep their shape?

Any thoughts gratefully received.

On a separate note, looking at all your pictures, I have been a little envious of all the gleaming carpets that the dogs are lying on. So I invested in the new all-singing-all-dancing Dyson 'animal'. After the initial shock of filling the tank with yellow fur, I can safely say its THE golden owner must have item of 2009!!

HI

Totally agree with you on the dyson - we have one and I don't know how we managed without it!

On the beds - I have the blue & pink ones (as modelled by my Holly & Bramble) and they do love them and opt for these over other mats & beds they have :love2

Ella also has vet beds, one at the front door where she likes to sit and watch the world go by,and one in the boot of the car. We have just bought her an 'upstairs bed' with raised edges which she loves.....can't get her off it :1960 . She seems to like to lie with her back up against something. All the beds go in the washer too.
As for the dyson, would'nt...could'nt...be without it, especially at the moment as she's molting, so it's used twice a day :2004:

Hi Wickets mum.

Just a thought, try the Wharfedale Farmers Store by Tesco. They have a super Doggy section there. Sure you'll see something you might like. Good selection of feed, leads. etc. Give it a try. We were really impressed.

Will have to have a look in there myself Lynn, I'd forgotten about that place. Years ago, it just seemed to cater for horses and animal feeds. I love a good pet shop :1957:

after what's happened over the years, with the numerous 'goldens' that have lived or stayed here I can't believe the abuse our carpet has received.. I'm on our second Dyson (it is heavy though) it's a Dyson 'vroom' which came with the 'animal attachments' which were free... and I bought a Bissell (quickwash )carpet washer, which is invaluable when one of them has been icky dicky...

If anyone would like one of the beds like Ginnie and Cobi's and can wait until the Funday, I will gladly order them and bring them up.( They are made all in one piece, so Cobi can't destroy or rip the base by 'diggling' this is usually done at 9.30pm... strange dog.. you can almost set your watch by her antics...
I did have to wait a month for the pretty washable ones as these seem to be the most popular at the moment) please send me a message via the private system.

Hi

We purchased a £60 Tuffy dog bed from scotland for our jasper when he came bless his
cotton socks chewed each corner. Well they boys needed new single duvets so guess who
got the second hand duvet&covers one complete with care bare cover and the other complete
with Raf red arrows he loves them both and we just pop them in the washing machine. he luvs to suck on the duvet dont know what that is all about any body any idea's. so the £60
bed is in the loft with the ramp to get in the back of the car. (good job we purchased before the credit crunch) ha ha. Great photos on the site

regards

Russell

Jade once 'remodelled the sides' of her rigid plastic bed....
Ginnie does that, she sucks on a vet bed or drags one of her beds into the middle of the lounge and then goes into a trance for 10-15 mins, she can't hear us when she does this, we have to touch her if we want her to hear, then she shakes her head and looks at us as much to say, 'where have I been'. She sometimes drags one of her beds down the stairs.. silly dog, I'm frightened in case she goes base over apex... she'd be better off dragging it to the top of the stairs and then jumping in, and sliding down ......weeeeeeeee

Mine just have vet bed on top of duvets. They love it. One of my oldies going back over twenty years to Barney he was a blanket sucker. If he was tired he would get his vet bed or any blanket around and settle down and suck it like a dummy and then fall asleep still sucking it. If you tried to take it from him when he was asleep his jaws just clamped tighter but he didn't wake up. Or didn't appear to wake up.Only he did this none of the others but it does happen quite often as many new rescue owners tell me of their dog doing the same. As you have done Russell Aren't they all just wonderful. :1957:

aww that sounds so cute! lol :1959:
I've lost a few skirting boards and window blinds - but luckily not any of their beds.
But when Bramble was a pup and we were attempting to toilet train her - she took to eating the puppy toilet pads! :2019:

I think Lynda's is like a 5 star hotel for dogs...lucky Cobi and Ginnie are spoilt rotten...

Mind you here we have a lounge day/bed...

Image

Note 'Philip the pheasant' has lost its nose!! :2005:
(he's not a real pheasant mind you!)

Then we have a night bed, at the side of ours...

Image

Those fleece beds with sides are not easy to keep clean, we have a big capacity washer and it won't fit in with enough space to get clean (the mattress bit will).

I'm an old duvet fan...but cut them in half and make two from one...easier to wash that way.

I don't like Dysons...find them too cumbersome and heavy...quite happy with the vacums we have...

I am impressed by all these wonderful beds but I am well impressed with Amber's lovely white teeth. Susan. That is a lovely picture of her. What a pretty face.

She's a lovely girl Susan. Ella's just come and plonked herself in her 'upstairs' bed so it's night night Ella :1958:

P.S. Does anyone's Golden have their own chair?
