TESS

Post by janrobinson »

It all seems queit on the site this past week. Everyone must be busy.

I am off to the vets this afternoon with Tess. She has limped for a while and I knew it was her foot and not her hip joint. I have been bathing her foot for a while and smothering cream on it in case she had a crack on her pad but yesterday I decided I needed to look into it further so reading specs on and a tired Tess so the time was right.

Anyway I decovered that her nail is loose and there is a gap round her nail. It must be so painful. I am thinking Nail off Toe off So I had better get there and find out for sure before I worry myself more stupid than I am already( I do not need any comments on the last sentence) :2009: Will let you know the outcome

Poor Tess - she is such a love, it must be so painful for her. Give her big hugs from us and you are right, we do worry about them. Sometimes more than the kids!!

We have a double appointment at the vets tonight - Ben seems to have developed something like a nervous twitch on his back legs (at first we thought it might have been an ear infection or his wound still) and Toby wad 'de-gonged' last week and they have swollen big time (he is still racing around like a loon)

Let us know how Tess gets on

Hope she is ok, and Ben and Toby (poor lad) you can't stop them racing around, it's impossible...
When collected Cobi from the vets after she had been spayed with 4 pages of A4 'don't do this or that', the little madam shot up the stairs and leapt onto our bed.
In 2007 Cobi broke a nail on her back foot jumping down out of the back of the car in such a strange fashion and caught it on the tow bar, so we came back to see our own vet (we were caravanning 65 miles from home) our vet used some forceps and pulled the nail out, OOOh, Cobi pulled and helped him, my Husband said she let out such a squeal, it didn't even bleed afterwards, the nail has grown again perfectly, and Cobi forgave the vet with a 'Cobi kiss' (the vet made the mistake of kneeling down to talk to her and had his tonsils cleaned), you'd have thought she wouldn't ever go in the premises again, totally different dog to Ginnie. If she had received the same treatment from a vet where we were staying we would probably have never used that vet again, you just trust your own vet.

Hope Tess is feeling much better real soon. Troy did this once, he stumbled and pulled the nail almost off blood everywhere luckily it stopped and we bandaged it up.

Well we have been. We have had this problem with Tess before and I thought it was a recurrence so that is what was bothering me more. However it is a different toe they tell me. Apparently the nail is not loose the nail bed is very infected and with the antibiotics and the painkillers she should be O K. Thank goodness.

Nevertheless I have purchased a pair of boots for her. So I can see it now. " If you think I am going out in them you can think again" :2007: And once she decides nothing in this world will change her mind. So this should be fun.

Thank you everyone for your support & good wishes.

Hope your two are O K Carolyn. I remember when Barney was castrated his leftover bits swelled up like ballons but they went down with no after effects.

we got boots for ben - imagine the fun of trying to get boots on a 50kg lab who didnt want to wear them!!

Mind you, your two are lovely - she will no doubt roll over and put her feet in the air!

Tobys ballon is starting to deflate and he isnt in any pain - ben has an allergey or something wrong with his skin - so its steroids and epi-sooth baths for him..

we might actually manage a week without a visit to the vets soon - we have been at least once a week, sometimes twice since november!

So pleased to hear Toby is deflating and hope Ben is sorted soon . They never seem to get to the bottom of allergies. Try this Try that all at your expense.

I will let you know how we get on with the boots when they arrive.

We have had an interesting morning . I got up to piles of what looked like bird seed in the hall and into the kitchen. When I put my glasses on I realised it was bird seed and poo. Who had been into the new bag of songbird mixture which has raisins in it. :2019: Could only be Tess but then looking at Duke he looked very guilty.

Cleaned and washed the carpet and of we went for our walk. I thought to myself I will find out who it was because there is bound to be some come out again. Lo and behold it was little miss perfect Bonnie who had done the deed. The other two micreants were innocent of all wrongdoing this time so they got an extra biscuit for my evil thoughts of them. Never a dull moment here. :2094:

Many years ago Abby had a nail bed infection (we were away caravanning in Scotland) and she was on 'steradent tablet sized pink antibiotics', and they cost about £1 each, but it worked and sorted the problem.

The little madam, I wonder if you have 'blamed' Tess for something else that Bonnie had done in the past?????
I would not have expected that from little 'Miss Perfect'

Glad it's not just me who has little devils :1960

Fancy blaming Tess - how could you Mrs Robinson???

As they say - its often the quiet ones??? Chloe always admits responsibility in our house (even if she wasn't in the house!!)

Well I got the boots, my idea was to put a boot on the bad foot to keep the dirt out ,as she is always walking in the mud, and hopefully in future ensure it doesn't happen again.

I put the boot on no bother. As Ian had expected I would. SHe set of with a little hopping skip to the front door. Onto the drive and we had a step then we had a paw shaking episode it was as if she had chewing gum or sellotape on her foot and she was trying to shake it off. This went on to the end of the drive and then the boot was off and she never looked back. Hey Ho there we go. If anyone needs a pair of dog boots, We have some here. :2019:
