DOG BAN ON BEACHES

HI All
Just seen the BBC Website were a newfoundland dog cannot by a lifeguard
anymore as dogs are not allowed on the beach words seem to fail me. I
agree a lot of people do not clean up after their dogs but suely have we
run out of common sense in this country of ours.

I am afraid the answer is yes, we seem to have overstepped commonsense boundaries in many areas.

I wonder, would the same rule apply if the Police had to search the beach area for a missing person or they were looking for drugs etc, would "sniffer or tracker" dogs be banned also.
Maybe some newly elected council person needs his/her moment of glory

I saw this on the news this morning.
Apparently its the RNLI who won't be using Bilbo anymore - not the council (and I am no fan of councils). Since the council brought in the 'no dogs on the beach' policy - Bilbo had been sat on the RNLI truck.

Words fail me as to the stupidity of it

i see on that news report that a spokeman said that ""we have trained people to do this job" what a prat. It is bred in Newfoundlands to do this job. Anyway I would assume that Bilbo will be found a loving family to spend his time with and not with people who obviously do not want a dog about.

the shame of it is that having seen the dog in action , he clearly loves what he is doing and like Jan says it is bred in them to do the job too. perhaps someone will start a campaign to overturn this decision, I will back it for one!!

What a load of Bull!!!! Another pen pusher to the fore. The sanity of it fails me. Poor Bilbo, trained to do a job, then left high and dry.
I can understand the Poo issue, but a working dog, and a life guard at that, crazy.
I'm sure, that like me, you carry your little bags with pride, as with most aspects in life, it's the minority that spoil things for others.
A quick P,S. Gobby home Jan!!!!!

Update on Bilbo.
Did you see him on tele' lastnight, was it Animals do the Funniest things?
No mention of him being banned, so was it an old film. He really enjoyed himself by the looks of things. He and his owner could save me any day
Had to laugh when "dad" said the ladies love him, until he slobbers!
Big jowls make for Big Slobbers.
