Retriever Rescue

Bentley me and my human bestie went for a lovely walk this morning. Everything was just perfect, one of those days when you leave all your worries behind and enjoy the moment. Just before we set off back to Darwen over the moors we stopped at a little cafe for a quick break.

A lady came over to say hello to Bentley and asked his name.

"Bentley? Bentley from the retriever rescue? I've been looking at his photos!"

Just for you, lady who's name I didn't get, are a few photos from the last few days. It was lovely to chat with you. I hope another goldie finds their way into your life soon.

it was lovely to meet the young man called Bentley this morning and of course Lesley too! Bentley and his pals on the RR website are celebs in our house! We lost our Goldie "Jaffa" in Feb last year, 2 weeks before his 15th birthday. His coat was very golden, almost orange hence his name "the orangey bit in the middle" . The website has brought great comfort and smiles as the fun and often muddy images bringing back so many happy memories of our boy. We didn't want to rush into getting another Goldie because we all needed time to grieve for him...... but there is a retriever shaped hole in my heart that will need to be filled!!!
Keep doing a wonderful job in offering these girls and boys a second chance at life x

Jaffa looks gorgeous, a proper character I really enjoyed our chat this morning. I know Bentley had his eye on that bag of treats, I'll just have to make him a liver cake this afternoon so he doesn't feel deprived

Thanks for sharing those lovely photos of Jaffa. What a grand lad and such a lovely colour, reminded me of our first Goldie "bracken".
It's amazing how many people stop and ask about the dogs and tell us about their dear departed friend. So upsetting for them to tell their story. Hope you fill that hole very soon.

Now Lesley, as for the liver cake, years ago I had a recipe from one of Jans friends at N.W.G.R.C. Carole. Decided to give it a try. Oh did I have fun, there was more of the mixture stuck around the kitchen than in the tray, never again, but the dogs loved it.

So Bentley is becoming infamous!!!, he will have to have his own twitter account soon.

KDB what a gorgeous boy Jaffa was a real old fashioned golden retriever. Go on fill that hole in your lives soon.

luv the photos of Bentley and Jaffa was a handsome chap, you can never
replace the ones you have lost, but the joy the new one can bring nearly had
jasper seven years and he filled a big hole after we lost our beautiful poppy but Jasper well what a different boy he has been wouldn't be with out him a struggle at first but worth all the effort turned out great fun so loyal to Bridget a right mummy's boy.
