A Life size bronze statue has been unveiled in the Highlands to honour one of the country's most popular dogs, the golden retreiver.
For those who did not know the breed was created at Tomich, near Glen Affric,in the 1800's by landowner Dudley Marjoribanks, who later became Lord Tweedmouth.
He crossed a wavy-coated retreiver called Nous with Belle, a Tweed water spaniel, on his Guisachan Estate.
Sorry I don't have a photo of the statue but I remember someone posting a picture of the gathering of Goldens last year in Scotland.
Im sure most people already know this so I hope ive not offended anyone.
Audrey.

The man deserves a statue himself, the best breed ever. :

We have made the pilgrimage to Guisachan , with our last Golden Jazz.
The Golden Retriever club of Scotland did have a plaque erected there when we went . Glad there is now a statue.

Re: Statue tribute to Golden Retreivers
We usually have our annual holiday trip up to this area of Scotland and we see so many Goldens up there, sadly we haven't managed it this year with Paddy and his 2 cruciate ops but here's hoping for next year....so pleased to hear there is now a statue to this wonderful breed....

Thanks for the pictures but isn't it a shame it is so neglected. I bet it was magnificent in it's day.
