We have been away for over 3 weeks caravanning (I have, hubby had to come back to work for a few days).........wind...mud... rain...thunder....hail !!!! it wasn't boring, so I am now trying to catch up .... those dongle thingy's are rubbish where we were in the field... but lots of lovely birds (woodpeckers, long tailed, blue and great tits, gold, green and bull finches on the feeders outside the caravan, no change with Cobi just as grubby and as lovely as ever.

Hi Lynda welcome back, I can't imagine three weeks in a caravan with a mobile mud machine, did you run out of towels or washing powder first????

The mud drops off Steve....... and I use microfibre towels on dogs, as they don't take long to dry.
We changed the carpet in the caravan at the beginning of the season and chose a nutmeg/muddy dog colour....which comes out in three sections, since we started caravanning in 1985 I've been used to wiping the glass door on the cooker each day, as all our dogs have gone 'whoosh' with their tails. The fridge and freezer 'get the tail treatment' in our kitchen, then you get the 'tide line' up the door frames.... still if visitors don't like it, they know what they can do (anyway all our friends have dogs)
Cobi is pretty clean at the moment. (stretched out on our bed like a nighdress case, wopped out) Yesterday's walk was worse, the dirty litter blighter upended herself in a pile of slimy foxxssh all down her right side, just at the end of the walk, she was probably angling for a dip....instead she was treated to the 'pethead blueberry muffin waterless shampoo, grimey wipes, rubber glove treatment' she had her dip this morning, she goes like lightning through the heather, bracken and now the ferns are appearing...goodness knows how many miles she does, it's no wonder she's 'cream crackered' !!!!

Wonderful pics. as usual. Good old Cobi - she knows exactly what to do when mud appears!
We have just returned from 5 days in the caravan on a working farm in North Wales. Sam was his usual lad-back self - lying there watching the Henny Penny and her friends helping themself to his water (in the awning, cheeky little beggars!). He has been swimming in the sea, and no matter how carefully we hold his bath sheet up when he comes out, we always manage to end up wetter than he is!!! He's got the shake down to a fine art!
We met several other lovely Goldens and their owners, and Sam got on O.K. with them, and all the other breeds we met. One poor chap had a Labradoodle, age 5 months, and what a merry dance it led him. Sam sat and watched its antics with a very superior expression on his face!! There were loads of Jack Russells - all in good voice. We had some good long walks both along the prom and Rhos and Llandudno, and he had some good runs in the empty fields at the farm. Hoping to go again soon. Weather was sunny but very cold!

By the way, don't they learn quickly? The day we got there, we went to a fish and chip restaurant, so I put a couple of chips in a paper hankie and gave them to him when we got back to the car. Every time we open the back now, he stands there quite blatantly and audibly smacking his lips, hoping for more treats!!

I always think to myself after meeting some other breeds of dogs, how I am so glad that Goldens are in my life. Some of them are absolute horrors, we have a tiny Yorkie near to us, it runs along the fence hurling abuse at our 2. Willow takes a wide berth whilst Woody just walks along ignoring the darned thing. Yesterday it got told to "shut up you hairy little rat", owners in close proximity weren't amused.!!!! TOUGH.

Good on you Lynn I was only thinking the other day how many times now when I take my two out, I have to give other dogs a wide birth or put them on a lead or call them back to me. Goldens are such a placid dog compaired to some other breeds, I know I personally would not have any other type of dog .Remind me not to cross you Lynn. Im sure your barks worse than your bite.

I was only saying to David when we were in North Wales, you are never lonely when you have a Golden - people gravitate to you. and before you know where you are, you have got a "friend"!!
