You've got a bit of something on your face

Out for a walk in the cold, wet and windy woods today, as normal Bentley had been snuffling around in the mud. He tried to get away with it by looking all nonchalant but I can spot the subtle giveaway clues
On the way back from our walk we were doing a 'sit, stay' exercise and he was sitting as good as gold facing me. Probably tired out after trying to mount a huge chocolate labrador he'd just met.
Suddenly a beautiful deer jumped out onto the path in front of me but behind Bentley. I'm not sure who was more shocked - me or the deer. We stared at each other, both frozen to the spot for a good ten seconds. Bentley was oblivious to it all and just sat staring at me with his tail wagging in anticipation of the treat he knew was coming his way.
I think it's fair to say I got the better treat this morning!

You sure have got a wallower there Lesley, a mud magnet. Doesn't bode well for the future.
Only joking, he looks such a happy little chap.

Oh dear.... he really has started 'wallowing' at a tender age..... Ceili did this from a pup......she found a giant mud puddle in Richmond Park (we we visiting friends and weren't in our car) round and round she went 'like a catherine wheel' only bit that was golden was between her eyebrows and top of her head, and the more we laughed at her the more she carried on
lovely photograph of Bentley... I bet Jan's really enjoying these photographs, she
LOVES grubby goldens.

A lovely picture - a Golden in its natural state!! Don't they all just love mud. They just wallow in it! Sam loves it when he has been hosed down and then gets a good rub down with a towel. That is his bonus.
Your bonus was seeing the deer - how lovely.
Perhaps as well that Bentley missed it!
Best wishes - Samsmum (Joyce).

i love a dog with a muddy face, it's a sign of enjoyment.
we were on holiday in Looe the other year and i took milo out for an early morning walk. he especially liked to excavate molehills when they were fresh. so there we were on the cliff top and he's dragging me from one molehill to another. mud everywhere even his eyebrows had bits in them when we both looked up at the same time to see a magnificent stag framed against the rising sun about 20 meters in front of us.( a fantastic sight to see- i was completely in awe of it) it stopped looked at us for a few seconds then shot off. what did milo do? i hear you ask. he snorted down his nose and carried on with his mole hunting. everyone has priorities.

He seems to have worked out where all the muddy ditches are around our house. He's not getting
quite as muddy now that our neighbour has put his horses in the fields so I have to keep him ( Bentley not the farmer
) on the lead until we're well past them - and the ditches.
Luckily kept my big old darkroom developing trays so I stand him in one of those and rinse him down when we get home. Seems to work quire nicely - while he's still smallish. I might have to have a rethink later.

What? The darkroom? It was fabulous, I could disappear into there for hours and hours. Lith printing was always my favourite.
