Hi
Hadn't realised that a month has passed since I last posted a message
You wouldn't believe the difference that Rosie has made to Sam in the short time they have been together.
When we first got Sam he wouldn't venture upstairs but now sleeps on my son's bed. For some reason Rosie has chosen to have her bed next to the radiator in the kitchen and she seems quite content to spend time in there alone when she is tired. Once she has had her forty winks she comes back through ready for action!
Their favourite activity at the moment is going in the back field where we have dwarf trees laden with eating apples and jumping up for them. Even more enjoyable if the wind has blown them off and they can forage in the grass!
Rosie is so funny - when she wags her tail she almost bends herself in two and has settled into family life. Sam is so gentle with her but we laugh when he subtly pushes himself in between us and Rosie if she is getting the attention. Can you imagine what it is like when it is brush time - I nearly need to be like an octopus!
Sam continues to tone up and his coat is becoming more silky. He took a little time to be totally at ease in his new home but we got there eventually.
Thanks Jan and everyone for your support - we have been so blessed to be able to share our home with two wonderful retrievers.

Rosie & Sam
Hi
Yet another update from Cumbria. We went away last week in the caravan for half term. Sam is blase about it as he has now been away 3 times carvanning and knows the set up. Rosie was so excited as it was her first trip. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and wasn't at all daunted by her new "home". Both of them love the outdoor life and received lots of hugs and cuddles from people who hadn't brought their dogs with them - strange to us as that was one of the reasons for buying a caravan so we could all be together but each to their own. We even had the people in the caravan opposite us volunteering to walk them but to be honest Rosie and Sam were never still long enough.
I am loathe to admit it but I bought one of those awful extending leads that I have muttered about for years having been tripped up so many times by inconsiderate dog walkers. Caravan site rules are that dogs need to be on a lead at all times whilst on site. We are very lucky with Sam as he walks to heel all the time like our previous goldie, Saffron, and as we have been so often the site owners don't enforce this rule as he is so well behaved. Rosie at 11 months old is a totally different story. If she sees anything or anyone that takes her fancy she forgets all about the hours of recall training we have done and trots off to meet and greet. Our friends felt sorry for her being kept on a short lead while we were walking on site as they know she loves to explore and ratch about in the autumn leaves and lent us their extendable lead to try. I take back all my comments about them; if used appropriately they can afford some freedom. She had a whale of a time being able to have a run around as we walked around and loved meeting everyone while I didn't have to worry about breaking the rules as I went to collect the daily paper. In time I hope that we won't have to use it but until then extendable lead it is while we are on site!
Once we were off site and walking in the dunes or on the seafront they could run until their hearts were content. Sam looks like a different dog as he is now so fit and his coat so soft. As soon as you get his dog brush he starts wagging his tail and would stand for hours being groomed. Yes, I even have a spare brush in the caravan to keep him happy. Result at end of our little holiday - two happy goldies who are probably looking forward to their next trip out with the caravan.

Loved the pictures of Sam and Rosie, they look so content together.
They have really hit it off, how nice for them both.
Looking at Rosie, she is the image of Little Willow, did a double take
when I first saw the pictures. Maybe it's just the way she is laid, but in each one there's that same look.
One things for sure, if she's anything like her, you'll have a treasure.
Wishing you many hours of fun with your twosome Nikki.
