Fitting Tribute to a Golden.

Post by superjazz »

The last Golden who was involved in the search operation after the 9/11 terrorist attack has died.
His name was Bretagne and he was 16 years old.
He spent 10days searching for human remains at the 9/11 site.
At 15 he was taken to the Memorial Service after 7 years as a search and rescue dog.
He died of old age at a Vets clinic in Houston Texas.
His body was taken from the Clinic with a Guard of Honour and he was draped in the American flag.
Proof if proof were needed that Goldens are a wonderful breed.

It brought tears to my eyes reading her story and how she was bought as an 8 week puppy, and her owner deciding to train her in search and rescue.

But I'm not very comfortable with the photographs shown in the press with the guard of honour as she is led up the steps on her final walk to be PTS.

What a heroine! :love3 :love4 :love5

I loved the fact that her achievements have been recognised and she was given the honour she deserved. What a fantastic old lady she was.
