Ahoy me 'earties!

Post by bentley »

Pirate dog aka Cap'n Bentley, went down to Brixham for the pirate festival last weekend.

To be honest I was in two minds about whether to take him or not as I know it would be busy and very very loud. Would it all be too much for him and stress him enough to bring on a seizure? Do I leave him at home knowing that he's get so stressed he'd have a seizure? Decisions, decisions.
In the end we decided to take him as we could always stay on the fringes of the festival if it got too much for him and he's always happier with us than without us. So. Six adults, three children and one dog descended on an unsuspecting Devonshire town.

Well here are the pictures, do you think he enjoyed himself?

I can't believe how many people just can't resist stroking him as they walk past or stopped to chat with him. He just loved the attention, the noise and the bustle. I was so proud of him. He even danced in the street for a crowd of admirers. When a musket fired he didn't even flinch, when a whole barrage of muskets fired he stopped to see what was going on and when the cannon fired he just looked at me to check everything was ok and then carried on flirting with a particularly beautiful labradoodle. I was so proud of him. What on earth was I worried about, he loved it and he's been as right as rain.

Fair to say they didn't have quite as much street cleaning as they'd have had to do if he wasn't there, he hoovered up as many dropped chips and pastie crumbs as he could get his mouth round before I caught him. Honestly, you'd think he never got fed!

We spent a lot of time at Sharkham Point and St Mary's beach. We stayed at the caravan park 5 minutes walk from there so it was our daily morning and evening walk. We loved it there, your'e right, the scenery is breathtaking. One time I even did the walk in my pirate outfit. That raised a few eyebrows!

Did you know there are 110 steps down to St Mary's beach? That's not too bad but there are 110 back up them again!! #pewfagged The two beach photos were taken on St Mary's beach.

Not once did I get the rest of the family to join us on our walks, lazy so and so's don't know what they missed.

that's where we stayed. we didn't get to the beach though. the dogs used to drag us to the path for sharkham and that was it ...cliff top it is then , and then they'd walk lovely. we always said that we would scatter them there. not got round to it yet (still in living room under the table). it's a shame nobody will join you on that walk either because it really does blow the cobwebs away - literally.
ooohhh you've got me thinking about brixham now. pasties, cream tea, cliff walks and freddie fox ........wish i was there.
